SUMMARY 

The Live Video Director is responsible for the development, presentation, and strategic execution of the visual vision of Rock City Church as it pertains to all live experience video. Reporting directly to the Broadcast Production Director, the Live Video Director helps create engaging and live video moments through cinematic visual storytelling serving both our in-person and remote audiences. Ensures proper maintenance of camera systems and equipment, contributing to enhanced user experiences, operational efficiency, and experience success. 

GENERAL DUTIES 

STRATEGY & ARTISTIC DIRECTION 

  • Oversees the strategic execution of Broadcast Video ensuring met standards and vision alignment 
  • Plays a key role in planning experiences, aligning capture and broadcast with the in-room experience 
  • Develop and execute a visual production plan for live events, including camera plots, shot lists, and blocking 
  • Coordinate with partner departments (lighting, video, visual) to ensure cohesive and engaging live experiences 
  • Forecast, evaluate, and recommend technical solutions to adapt to growing and changing trends 

TECHNOLOGY 

  • Oversee and deploy cameras and video infrastructure related to professional level video capture of live events 
  • Manage, maintain, and repair video/camera related equipment 
  • Manage and maintain capture related data and archiving 
  • Maintain location support/engineering documentation as it pertains to camera systems 
  • Ensures capture and hand off of weekly message pre-record 
  • Plays a supporting role to the Broadcast Production team throughout the week 
  • Create quality testing processes to ensure video playback reliability, compatibility, and performance 
  • Manage the set-up, connection, implementation, and tear down of all Video equipment from load-in to load-out used for live video services or special events

TEAMS  

  • Manage weekly schedule of volunteer/staff camera operators, shaders, and camera assists 
  • Develop trainings to improve team member competencies across campuses through regular training nights 
  • Recruit and mobilize people to play a role on the Production Team 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE 

  • Strong experience in Ross Video environments 
  • Experience in Live Video Directing of multi-camera systems in creative environments 
  • Detailed experience with waveform monitors and vectorscopes displaying strong color and visual perception 
  • Strong technical knowledge of broadcast level systems and equipment 
  • Skilled communicator that can inspire confidence and calm in high-pressure environments. 
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, team management, and recruiting skills 
  • Effective time management and the ability to navigate multiple projects at once 
  • Active and growing relationship with Jesus Christ 
  • Fully aligned with the vision, values, and beliefs of Rock City Church
