Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Come join our growing team at Virginia Landscape Group! The Landscape Designer is a team member who has a positive attitude and a passion for ensuring client satisfaction through excellent design services. This person should have a distinct ability to listen to and understand clients’ needs while delivering creative design solutions that meet those needs. This position will be responsible for design, estimating, material ordering, executing agreements, and assisting in billing and change orders.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

DESIGN/SALES:

  • Meet with the client at a designated time.
  • Perform a detailed site analysis for prospective jobs.
  • Create a landscape design that meets client goals, and objectives and within the proposed budget.
  • Ensures all job notes are accurately prepared in the estimate.
  • Create construction drawings as needed.
  • Research and implement new products.
  • Use company design software and create 3D renderings.
  • Use company estimating software.
  • Follow up with the client post-sale to do a walk-through of the job to ensure the client is satisfied.
  • Perform warranty follow-ups.
  • Participate in weekly Sales/Production meetings.

PRODUCTION:

  • Maintains excellent communication with client throughout project.
  • Communicates with Foreman and Crew Leaders and reviews jobs as needed, including job site visits, to ensure the client’s expectations are met.
  • Attend production meetings and convey updated information to the production team regarding add-ons, change orders, etc.
  • Visits job site and meets with client during project to ensure client satisfaction and expectations are being met.
  • Coordinates with subcontractors as required to create a positive experience for client.

NETWORKING:

  • Develop relationships with existing and potential clients to develop sales leads.
  • Joins and participates in extra-curricular activities and professional networking groups that promote Lynchburg Landscapes.
  • Generate new sales leads from networking opportunities.
  • Maintain relationships with previous clients by means of phone and email communication at specified intervals.

ADMINISTRATIVE:

  • Utilizes Company CRM software to log all activity with prospects and clients following company protocol.
  • Uses Dynascapes, Lumion and Sketchup.
  • Creates job folders for each job.

GENERAL:

  • Must have the ability to communicate, gain trust and develop relationships with prospects, clients, team members, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Must display a passion for landscaping and a sense of enthusiasm that can be conveyed to potential clients.
  • Help with additional items as needed.


Requirements:

WORKING CONDITIONS: The employee is expected to work from Monday through Friday 7:30-4:30p. 


WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • The employee will work closely with owner, other landscape designers, team leaders, office staff and clients.


KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Valid driver’s license and insurable.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and enjoy ensuring the happiness of clients.
  • A minimum of one year experience in design/sales with proven ability to meet sales goals and objectives is preferred.
  • Green industry degree (horticulture, landscape architecture, landscape design) is preferred but not required if equivalent experience exists.
  • Knowledge of plants, hardscape materials, drainage, irrigation and architectural features for our region of Virginia.
  • Candidate should have excellent computer skills and be proficient in basic computer programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as job planning skills are a must.
